Homeless Event Incident

Homeless Event at Khalsa Secondary Academy 14th Dec 2018

An unfortunate incident occurred during a homeless sleepover charity fundraising event at Khalsa Secondary Academy where a few students entered the Diwan hall without permission and chose to put on a bhangra song and then danced. The event was taking place outside normal school hours.

The School and Trust are deeply embarrassed about this incident and are carrying out a full investigation into this matter. Full CCTV coverage of the period is available. We can report immediately that Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was not present at the school as refurbishment works are currently being undertaken. Nevertheless, the school is very disappointed with the behaviour of its students and the supervision of these students and will take appropriate and timely action once the full investigation report is available. The Diwan hall will now be locked at all times and only accessible with the presence of the Sikh Chaplin or another responsible adult. No money was held or taken from the golak. Students were sent home immediately and parents of the students have been contacted and have been are asked to attend the school on Monday. We apologise to anyone who may have been offended by this incident. This is an isolated incident and is not a reflection on the tremendous work done by the school staff and 450 students at the school.
