Curriculum

Curriculum Intent

At Atam Academy, we believe all students should be exposed to a rich curriculum, one that allows them to explore a variety of writers and thinkers from all the ages. Our curriculum ensures that students are knowledgeable enough about the world around them so that they can play a part in its transformation in the future.

We offer a curriculum which is both academically and creatively rigorous.

We encourage our students to be reflective and instill in them the confidence to be determined and to never give up trying.

We encourage competition and allow our students to win and lose.

We encourage teamwork so that students are able to work together and get the best out of one another.

We believe that learning is a gift and through our curriculum, as knowledge and skills are gained, students will appreciate and understand the world around them and will be able to contribute and shape our world for future generations to follow.

At the heart of our curriculum is excellent behaviour, safety and care through the promotion of British Values of tolerance of other faiths, democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect.

Key Stage 3:

Atam Academy operates a two year Key Stage 3. In Years 7 and 8 all students study English, Mathematics, Science, 2 Modern Foreign Languages, History, Geography, Religious Studies, PSHE, PE, Art, Technology, Music and Drama. We believe that this broad and balanced curriculum allows students to fully develop their literacy and numeracy skills as well as developing their inquiring and creative minds.

Students are always taught the context of what they are learning so that they can understand and make connections.

Students know how well they are learning. Students sit biannual exams, in December and in June. They have weekly prep in all subjects.
