Music

Taking part in a range of music-making activities is the most effective way for pupils to develop a real understanding of music. Music education is therefore experienced through an active involvement in listening, appraising, performing and composing, which are the main components of the National Curriculum for Music.

The enjoyment of music is strongly encouraged by providing opportunities for pupils to express ideas and feelings through music. Pupils will then experience personal satisfaction through making music together. Pupils will listen and perform from a wide variety of styles in music, which will help to develop an awareness of different times, traditions and cultures.

Our children sing together each week and this is an important part of our provision.

Music skills are also enriched as part of our after school club programme and peripatetic provision that includes additional lessons in a variety of instruments.
