At The Khalsa Academy, we are passionate about ensuring our young learners are exposed to life experiences that will inform their future choices. We want to engage with our learners so they are aware of the huge variety of careers and higher education opportunities on offer to them. As well as striving for excellence in providing students with the academic foundations to succeed, we pride ourselves on the wide range of opportunities on offer, from Year 7 through to Year 11, for students to explore future pathways and receive quality advice and guidance so that they are able to make the right choices, whether that be Further Education, Higher Education, an apprenticeship or employment. This will develop further for our new sixth form provision which will begin in September 2020.

CEIAG at TKAW is tailored to meet the needs of all our students and the interests they have. Students have the opportunity to visit universities to gain experience of life in Higher Education, whilst our links with business, including apprenticeship providers, local industries and the uniformed services, as well as our annual trip to the national Skills Show, provide opportunities for students to explore the world of employment. TKAW invites university advisors and representatives in particularly from Red brick universities so that students know what they have available to them. Trips and activities are organised by individual departments to give our students a better insight into particular careers. These include:

  • STEAM days/ E Safety days - encourages students to get involved in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths extra-curricular activities
  • Career Friday – staff ensure they weave into lessons particular careers every Friday
  • UCAS/CEIAG Corner- dedicated space in the academy library- many year 11 students use this space too study silently at lunch times
  • Events- we have a dedicated Events committee which comprises of year 11 students.

We are developing our offer of CEIAG and would appreciate and welcome any employers into our academy to offer talks and support/experiences to out students.
