Key Stage 4

Our Key Stage 4 curriculum is diverse and personalised. Pupils will, over three years, build up a portfolio of subjects. For all pupils, there are a range of academic and vocational qualifications available to study.

Pupils are taught in smaller than average teaching groups. Many subjects are set by ability. All pupils follow a common core. The school operates a policy of determining the timetable around student choice rather than asking pupils to choose from a fixed structure. This policy allows for a high level of student satisfaction.

Our core subjects at Key stage 4 are: English, Maths, Science (double award), a Modern foreign Language, a humanities subject and Religious Education. Pupils continue to receive core PE and PSHE lessons throughout Key Stage 4.

We currently offer a 3 year Key Stage 4 curriculum; from September 2020 this will change to a 2 year curriculum for Years 10 and 11.

The aim of RSE is to give young people the information they need to help them develop healthy, nurturing relationships of all kinds, not just intimate relationships. It will enable them to know what a healthy relationship looks like and what makes a good friend, a good colleague and a successful marriage or other type of relationship.

Parents and the local community can find out more about the curriculum we follow at KSA by emailing Mr J Williams (Deputy Headteacher)
