PSHE

AIMS

PSHE at Atam curriculum ensures that each of our pupils knows, understands and remembers how to play a positive and successful role within our society, both as a child and as an adult in the future. It enables them to becoming active informed global citizens. We equip pupils with knowledge of their world, locally, nationally and globally and give them confidence to tackle many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. We provide our children with opportunities for them to learn about rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society.  Moreover, our pupils are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community.

Relationships and Sexual Education

Following consultation in the Spring Term 2020, RSE will commence in the Summer Term 2021

Pupils in primary will learn about the fundamental building blocks and characteristics of positive relationships, with particular reference to friendships, family relationships, and relationships with other children and with adults.

In secondary, pupils are provided with the information they need to help them develop healthy, nurturing relationships of all kinds, not just intimate relationships. It will enable them to know what a healthy relationship looks like and what makes a good friend, a good colleague and a successful marriage or other type of committed relationship. It will also cover contraception, developing intimate relationships and resisting pressure to have sex (and not applying pressure). Pupils will learn what is acceptable and unacceptable behaviour in relationships.
