Khalsa Academies Trust
The Khalsa Academy Sandwell will be one of four academies that form the Khalsa Academies Trust (KAT). The trust was formed in 2012 and its trustees have been working with the Department for Education for almost 15 years. The other academies are Khalsa Secondary Academy (KSA) in Stoke Poges, The Khalsa Academy Wolverhampton (TKAW) and Atam Academy in East London.
Its purpose is to provide inclusive outstanding schools based on Sikh values which inspires our students to excel both academically and spiritually and to serve humanity.
How will KAT support a Free School in Sandwell?
KAT has 3 successful Sikh ethos Free Schools, these are geographically disparate– 1.Khalsa Secondary Academy, Stoke Poges (OFSTED GOOD), 2.The Khalsa Academy Wolverhampton (OFTSED GOOD) 3. ATAM Academy, Redbridge. (OUTSTANDING – Internal Judgment)
KAT has successfully established a range of strategies to ensure its schools work together despite geographical distance to support each other and this would be replicated for KAS. However, TKAW will work most closely with KAS as we establish a west midlands hub.
In practice- KAT central team will provide support from CEO. DOE, Finance Director, Director of Estates, IT, HR.
Staff sharing between the two schools – esp leadership, SENCO, pastoral , administrative. (back office support)
Lead practitioners from KAT schools
CPD/Video conferencing/Middle leadership development.
